Hamad International Airport signs a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Municipality and Environment to achieve a sustainable environment

Hamad International Airport, in cooperation with the Qatar Company for Airports Management and Operation (Matar), announced the signing of a strategic memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Municipality and Environment aimed at developing and enhancing airport facilities by applying innovative and effective methods of waste management.

The Memorandum of Understanding provides for mutual cooperation between Matar Company and the Ministry of Municipality and Environment with the aim of managing various types of waste and daily waste inside Hamad International Airport, by transferring it to the Household Waste Treatment Center ( DSWMC ) . Of the Ministry. The objectives of the memorandum included the development of an integrated system to separate waste from the source, its safe transportation, and treatment of it with the best methods for recycling, in addition to spreading environmental awareness and a culture of sustainability at Hamad International Airport.

This new cooperation with the Ministry of Municipality and Environment is an additional step for the airport to maintain a sustainable environment, and it is a continuation of its efforts to continuously develop its environmental performance by reducing greenhouse emissions, reducing and recycling waste and managing noise.

Since the start of operations in 2014, Hamad International Airport has demonstrated its full commitment to achieving environmental sustainability by pledging to develop the carbon emissions efficiency of every traffic movement to reach 30% by 2030.
