QNL is hosting a three-day intensive masterclass on historical nonfiction. The idea is to offer tools and techniques for amateur and young writers to change their outlook on historical nonfiction using the archives of Qatar National Library, Qatar Museums and other international sources to write about the Gulf region.

The first day of the workshop will focus on archives and where and what to look for. The second and third days will examine character development, narrative writing, publishing principles, etc.

This workshop is restricted to participants who have already been published and who are interested in writing about the history of the Gulf. Only selected participants will be invited to the event. The masterclass will be held by Manu Pillai, an award-winning historian and writer, and Anita Burdett, a historical researcher, editor and archivist.

Registered participants will receive an application form and based on the responses, successful applicants will be notified.

Participation criteria: a committment to publish as a solo or co-author; willing to attend all three days of workshop; passion to read and write.
