Full Event Details/Description:

Mozart y Mambo with Sarah Willis is a concert that Doha people are not to miss, as the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra is going to cross the boundaries of music and dance combining the classical beauty with Latin rhythm. This concert will take place on 9 and 10 January 2026 in Qatar National Convention Centre, Auditorium 3 and is a refreshing and joyous concert where Vienna will be a meeting point with Havana.

The evening represented by Grammy-nominated Alastair Willis shows the possibilities of classical music to move through cultures and still remain sophisticated and appealing.

A Piece of Classical with Mozart

Mozart's Abduction from the Seraglio Overture sets the scene in the concert opener. International horn soloist Sarah Willis then makes an appearance on Mozart's warm, lucid and cheeky Horn Concerto No. 3.

Sarah Willis infuses a touch of her own personality, blending the craftsmanship and musicianship of the classics with a sense of entertainment that classical veterans and newcomers can appreciate.

Cuban Heat and Latin Colour in the Second Half

The second half of the programme changes the mood completely. Latin and Cuban influences now infuse the evening with irresistible rhythm and colour. The gentle mockery of Stravinsky’s Pulcinella Suite is a playful interlude before the orchestra hits some favourite classics: “El Bodeguero,” “Dos Gardenias,” and “El Manisero.”

The heart of the programme is a good-humoured, inventive work, “Rondo alla Mambo.” What would Mozart’s music sound like if it were reshaped by Havana’s rhythms? Elegant, funny, and a dancer’s delight, this piece is a showcase of the concert’s spirit.
