Before we go into this, it must be stated that there is no absolute right or wrong way to wear your fragrance. Sometimes, a person might find a way that isn’t precisely conventional that works perfectly for them, and that’s alright.
That being said, if you’re having trouble with the longevity of your fragrance or finding that your fragrance routine isn’t giving you your desired result, follow these simple steps. Hopefully, it will help you find the solution to your conundrum.
Skin Prep
When we don’t correctly hydrate our skin, well… it gets dry. Fragrances don’t adhere well to dry skin. Therefore, you must always maintain a well-hydrated skin.
- Shower First: Start with a warm shower to cleanse your skin and open up your pores for better fragrance absorption.
- Exfoliate: Use a body scrub once or twice weekly to remove dead skin cells.
- Hydrate: After showering, apply a body oil of your choice to your skin, followed by an unscented moisturizer. Well-moisturized skin retains fragrance better.’
PS: I bought a perfume set from V Perfumes that includes a fragrance and a matching body lotion; the scent lasts all day when I wear them together.
Select the Right Fragrance
Think of the weather, occasion, and time of day as variables that will affect the fragrance you choose to wear. Seasonal fragrances vary from season to season, as they incorporate notes that are suitable for the weather. For example, it is not advisable to wear Oud perfumes in summer, as it doesn’t react well to heat.
As for occasions and time of day, to put it simply, you wouldn’t want to wear the same scent you’d wear on a dinner date as you would to visit your grandma. Fragrances are tailored for different occasions and times of day. Consider that when picking your scent of the day.
- Work or Daytime: Go for clean, woody, or spicy scents that feel subtle and professional.
- Evenings or Special Events: Go for bolder notes like oud, leather, or amber fragrances that feel luxurious and sophisticated.
Apply the Fragrance Correctly
To make your perfume last all day, all you have to do is follow these simple steps:
Remember that storing your fragrances properly is essential; otherwise, they will not perform as well or last as long. You must always store them in a cool, dark place to protect them from light, heat, and other environmental factors.
If you follow the simple steps mentioned above, you should be able to maintain your scent wherever you go.
