Since its debut, this Qatar-created exhibition has striven to stimulate the construction industry and empower Qataris to build homes that are fit for the future, which has garnered the support of local government entities and private sector businesses. Year upon year, this backing has strengthened the event's offering to give visitors the vital information and industry insight they need to build their dream homes.
This year, Build Your House Exhibition announced the sponsorship from Official Partner: Ashghal; Sustainability Partner: Kahramaa, Official Airline: Qatar Airways, Supported by: Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Civil Defence and Qatar Chamber; Gold Sponsors: Al Hattab Holding, Living Spirit and Al Emadi Stones; Conference Partner: American Institute of Architects (AIA MEA).
Speaking about their role at this year's Build Your House Exhibition, Dr Fayeqa Abdullah Ashkanani, Director of the Public Relations Department at the Ministry of Municipality, said: "We play a pivotal role in the field of building requirements and permits, and our participation at Build Your House Exhibition 2023 introduces visitors to the many services provided by the Ministry of Municipality to the public and enhances the concerted efforts of public and private sectors to serve the Qatari community. The exhibition is an opportunity to introduce the great efforts made by the Ministry of Municipality in cooperation with partners to simplify all procedures and requirements related to licensing and construction – including developing the electronic system. In addition, we can speak to event visitors about information related to building their homes, such as the best procedures for obtaining permits, approvals, and construction operations."
She added: "The Ministry of Municipality, under the directives of His Excellency the Minister, Dr Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Subaie, are always keen to support and encourage investment in the real estate sector. Qatar is enjoying a comprehensive urban renaissance, and we strive to facilitate its development. We have improved legal registration and documentation, developing the building permit system, issuing the regulations guide, an important reference document for developers, real estate agents and consulting offices in the country."
On the nature of the Ministry of Municipality's participation at the Build Your House Exhibition, Dr Fayeqa Ashkanani stated: "There will be a pavilion that presents the prominent projects, programs, and services in the field of building and construction. Several senior officials from the Ministry of Municipality will also participate in panel discussions and workshops throughout the event. The Ministry of Municipality is always keen to communicate with the public and present services to them around the clock, whether through the website or the application on smart devices and social media or through direct communication via the unified call centre (184) and the customer service offices of the Ministry. They can also answer questions during their presence at exhibitions and forums related to the tasks and specializations of the Ministry, such as the Build Your House Exhibition."

Build Your House Exhibition contributes to the government agenda, which seeks to enhance the construction sector's growth, continue Qatar's urban renaissance, and achieve a high standard of living for local citizens. A recent report by Al-Asmakh Real Estate Projects Company stated that in addition to new projects related to infrastructure, education, and health sectors, the state is continuing work for the implementation of projects related to the development of regions and citizens' lands. Work is scheduled for 30,000 residential plots distributed in 17 areas, including Al-Kharaitiyat, Rawdat Eqdim, Izghawa, South Al-Wukair, North City, Al-Mirad, Southwest Muaither, Al-Abb, Al-Abeeb, South Duhail, Umm Lekhba, Jeryan Najima, North Ain Khaled, and others.
The report disclosed that the value of cash flows allocated to them is estimated at approximately QR35 billion to serve 33,413 plots distributed over 32 regions – a significant contribution to the real estate sector's recovery. This investment will positively affect and increase real estate investment and the construction movement in those areas. These projects will also increase the demand for land in that region.
Licenses and guidelines are also being established to enhance the real estate and construction industry regulation. At a recent Shura Council meeting (February 2023), the Council approved the stipulation of an establishment of a special register for those licensed to practice real estate development, and another register for those licensed to practice the profession.
While Engineer Mohammed Hassan Al Nuaimi, an engineering arbitrator and a member of the Union of Arab Engineers, has drafted the engineering guideline for construction. This guideline is a roadmap for individuals looking to build their own houses. It includes the foundations required for each stage of construction to avoid any disagreement or misunderstanding between those about to build their homes and the contractors in the next construction steps.
