Doha Festival City, Qatar’s ultimate destination for shopping, dining, and entertainment, having recently revamped its brand positioning “It’s my Place, my Choice”, is pleased to announce its gold sponsorship of the 6th Edition of the Tarsheed Carnival 2023, organised by the Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) representative of the national program of conservation and efficiency (Tarsheed).
Held at Kahramaa Awareness Park from 7 – 11 March, Doha Festival City was one of four gold sponsors, alongside QNB, Msheireb Properties and ConocoPhillips, for the week-long carnival that aimed to raise awareness among the public about sustainable development goals, which are in line with global vision as well as the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030.
Doha Festival City’s participation comes as part of its sustainability initiatives, as well as continuous efforts towards building a more sustainable community.
Commenting on the event, Robert Hall, Doha Festival City’s General Manager, said: “We are pleased to partner with Tarsheed and sponsor their annual carnival. As an environmentally responsible institution, we care deeply about our environment, taking great measures to reduce energy consumption and conserve water and power through a number of practices. At Doha Festival City, we are keen to remain on the forefront to spread the culture of conservation, and contribute to realizing Qatar National Vision 2030 by shaping Qatar as an advanced country capable of achieving sustainable development.”
The carnival featured a number of activities that were open to the public. This year’s edition was also exceptional, as it gave participants the opportunity to participate in a treasure hunt across five different locations in Msheireb, Katara, Education City, and Aspire Park.
Participants were invited to test their knowledge on Doha Festival City’s sustainability practices through a series of facts and questions for a chance to win up to QAR 10,000. 10 lucky winners were announced in the closing ceremony held on 11th March at the Kahramaa Awareness Park, where they received their prize of QAR 10,000 each.
As a sustainable mall, Doha Festival City continues improving its operations by following the latest international sustainability best practices and standards. The mall has a firm commitment towards the environment, and has previously received the highest level of sustainability certification from Gulf Organization for Research and Development (GORD).
