Since it opened its door on Monday, Build Your House (BYH) Exhibition 2023 has welcomed an incredible number of visitors, exhibitors, speakers, and competition winners to its 4-day event held at Qatar National Convention Centre.
Each edition, the event's knowledge sharing, inspiration, and nurturing of future talent continues to evolve, culminating in this year's enriched and expanded event that has increased its exhibition space and offered an additional day to attendees.
This first-of-its-kind, Qatar-created exhibition for Qatari housebuilders has also become a platform that nurtures and rewards future designers. This year, BYH Exhibition's annual Student Design Competition, in collaboration with VCUarts Qatar, gave 21 interior design students valuable industry experience; a brief by Msheireb Properties to create a Live/Work hybrid space that combines a home for two distinct users to live in and work from.
BYH Exhibition 2023 championed Qatar's emerging design talent with its award winner's presentation. Welcomed to the stage to receive their Best Interior Design awards and prizes were: First place: Fatima Karamshahi, Second runner up: Aya Akl; and Third place: Hissa Al-Khuzaei. A jury from the American Institute of Architects (AIA) MEA, prominent businesswoman and influencer Eng. Maram Zghoul and Ms. Petula Rahme, Sr. Project Manager of NeXTfairs for Exhibitions and Conferences selected the three shortlisted competition winners who also enjoyed displaying their winner entries at the VCUarts Qatar booth.
Every day of the exhibition has offered a broad spectrum of expertise from 11 am – 8 pm. Topics covered throughout the event have ranged from 'Sources and Solutions for Humidity in Your Home' to 'The Role and Future of Artificial Intelligence in Engineering Design.' In addition, government entities such as Civil Defense and The Ministry of Municipality have demonstrated their commitment to helping local citizens plan, design and build homes that are safe, secure, and fit for the future with daily attendance and knowledge-sharing sessions based on citizens' and local market needs.
Interesting topics were highlighted during these sessions; 'Sustainable Residential Design Utilizing Building Intelligence' by Eng. Ali Haj-Shafiei from the Delbrook Group, 'Maintenance of Residential Buildings and How to Maintain Their Architectural and Structural Components' by Eng. Zaher Hamada from Qatar's Ministry of Municipality, in addition to timeslots dedicated to AIA Middle East sessions that enable visitors to learn more about design, engineering, and architecture.
There is still one day left to attend BYH Exhibition 2023 and enjoy its knowledge-sharing conference, which sees a presentation from Doha Bank introducing their Housing Loan and Green Housing Loan offers and talks by Kahramaa, Qatar Civil Defense and many others. Visitors can also discover over 250 exhibitors featuring renowned brands from Qatar, Canada, Iran, Italy, Oman, and the UK, and companies from Sri Lanka, KSA, Belgium, China, Algeria, India, Jordan and Turkey – and find the right consultants to execute their home build, fit-out, or renovation.
