Fnac Qatar, the one-stop destination for all things culture, leisure and technology, proudly announces its participation in the 34th Doha International Book Fair (DIBF), taking place from May 8 to May 17, 2025, at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center. In collaboration with the French Embassy and the French Institute in Qatar (FIQ), Fnac Qatar continues its long-standing commitment to supporting cultural, literary, and educational initiatives in the country.

Since 2014, Fnac has been a steadfast advocate for cultural enrichment, participating in the Book Fair even before opening its first store in Qatar. Today, Fnac Qatar remains deeply invested in fostering literacy and education, reinforcing its dedication to facilitating, supporting, and hosting meaningful cultural exchanges.

Speaking about the participation, Mr. Bader Al-Darwish, Chairman and Managing Director of Darwish Holding, said: "At Fnac Qatar, our mission goes beyond retail. We aim to build bridges between cultures and generations through the power of books and learning. Our partnership with the French Embassy and the French Institute in Qatar for this year’s Doha International Book Fair reflects our shared commitment to nurturing curiosity, creativity, and lifelong learning."

He added, "We remain dedicated and passionate about continuing this journey — not only through our participation in the Book Fair, which we have proudly taken part in since 2014, but also through future cultural and educational initiatives in partnership with the French Embassy. We are driven by the belief that culture is the cornerstone of an inspired, informed, and connected society."

Echoing this sentiment, Mr. Patrick Poinsot, Deputy Head of Mission at the French Embassy in Qatar, added: "The French Embassy and the French Institute in Qatar are delighted to continue working hand in hand with Fnac Qatar. Together, we celebrate the French language, literature, and the universal values of knowledge and cultural dialogue that the Doha International Book Fair brings to life. France and Qatar have a strong friendship where more than 300,000 people speak French in Qatar, first and foremost His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and it is always a great honour to keep growing our cultural ties."

This year, the French Embassy, the FIQ and Fnac Qatar’s booth will feature a rich program of activities, including special workshops for students from prominent French and international schools in Qatar.

Among the highlights:

  • An exclusive program with Elsa Mroziewicz, the award-winning multidisciplinary artist and author. Elsa Mroziewicz will lead five days of pop-up workshops and youth reading sessions.
  •
  • On top of that, during the whole duration of the fair, the booth will include a new set-up this year with a mural printing called “La Forêt Universelle”/“The Universal Forest”, designed by Elsa Mroziewicz and Cécile Palusinski. Using tablets available on site, the audience will be able to scan a giant 4 square metre work of art where the hidden animals will be set in motion thanks to AI technology. Elsa Mroziewicz will launch a mediation workshop on this project, guiding the users in their search for endangered species. This work is at the intersection of art, storytelling, and ecology.
  • FNAC will also promote the distinguished author, Dr. Serge Tillmann, through a book signing ceremony celebrating his latest publication, "FRAGMENTS #1 - À Ceux Qui Vivent En Nous." Dedicated to his parents and inspired by his expertise in contemporary history, Dr. Tillmann’s work offers a moving reflection on human identities, heritage, and the transformative power of education. Following the success of his previous titles, "Êtres Embrassés" and "Lettres Enlacées," this new volume continues his exploration of the bonds that shape our lives and freedoms.

In addition, visitors to the pavilion can discover and purchase a wide selection of French titles, catering to babies, children, young adults, and adults alike. During the whole duration of the fair, a representative from the FIQ will be present at the booth to share information about the French and Arabic classes available at the institution and all the cultural programming available throughout the year.

Designed to embody a spirit of warmth, creativity, and exploration, the Fnac Qatar pavilion welcomes visitors into an inspiring world. Every element, from the intricate depictions of French landmarks to the immersive ambiance, has been meticulously curated to evoke a sense of awe and wonder, inviting guests on a journey through the richness of French literature and heritage. A soaring Eiffel Tower centerpiece radiates light and inspiration, while organic shelving displays surrounding its base pays homage to French culture, offering an inviting showcase of literary treasures for all ages.

Fnac Qatar, the French Embassy and the French Institute in Qatar invite everyone — students, educators, families, and book lovers — to join this year’s celebration of books, ideas, and imagination.
