During Art Basel Qatar, Molteni&C, the leading Italian designer furniture brand, presents the Molteni&C Objects Collection, with the presence of Francesca Molteni, Author, Director, and founder of MUSE Factory of Projects, and Salvatore Licitra, curator of the Gio Ponti Archives.
The refined setting of the Molteni&C boutique hosted an intimate conversation exploring the relationship between the brand and the Gio Ponti Archives — a collaboration that began in 2012 with the first Molteni&C Heritage Collection and continues today with the newly unveiled Molteni&C Gio Ponti Objects Collection.
Following the agreement signed with the Gio Ponti Archives, granting Molteni&C worldwide exclusive rights to reissue and commercialize all furnishings designed by Gio Ponti — except for those already licensed to other manufacturers — in 2012 the company launched an important program to shed new light on the remarkable body of research carried out by the great 20th-century master over more than 50 years of activity across architecture, design, applied arts, and publishing.
The reissue project led to the creation of a collection of furnishings — models originally conceived by Ponti as one-offs or in limited series — following an extensive process of research, selection, and study of the prototypes. The collection, developed in collaboration with the Gio Ponti Archives and under the artistic direction of Studio Cerri & Associati, includes furniture and accessories designed by Gio Ponti between 1935 and the 1970s, now part of the Molteni&C Heritage Collection.
The Gio Ponti Objects Collection represents a further evolution of this research — shifting the focus from furniture to the more intimate, poetic dimension of Gio Ponti’s design universe.
After the exclusive worldwide preview held in the Armoury of the Poldi Pezzoli Museum during Milan Design Week 2025, Molteni&C unveils its first-ever object collection within a Molteni&C store setting. These beautiful, (im)possible objects are displayed in a special layout inside the charming Doha Boutique.
Marking a new chapter of the collaboration between Molteni&C and the Gio Ponti Archives, the objects designed by this great maestro — catalysers of a new lifestyle — are brought back to life in this collection. The result of a lengthy process of research and prototyping. Hands, Etruscan objects, horses and birds, wooden bottles, trays, flower vases and candleholders all star as main players in a new homescape.
