The first art gallery to debut at the Qatar Boat Show invites visitors to experience the nation’s maritime story through contemporary art
Old Doha Port proudly unveils “OSHAR” Gallery, the first-ever art showcase at Qatar Boat Show 2025, taking place along the Shoreline Display throughout the four-day event from November 5-8.
The gallery will showcase maritime-themed artworks inspired by Qatar’s seafaring legacy, inviting visitors to explore and purchase original pieces created by artists based in Qatar.
Held under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Qatar Boat Show 2025 continues to position Old Doha Port as a destination where culture, commerce, and community converge, connecting the world to Qatar’s enduring maritime story.
In the days when the sea was the heart of life, shipbuilders showcased their masterpieces at the port, where newly crafted vessels stood proudly, brimming with vitality and craftsmanship.
The term “OSHAR,” meaning “modern dhow,” was historically used by Qataris to describe vessels that represented progress while preserving traditional seafaring values. At Old Doha Port, this legacy continues through ongoing efforts to preserve and promote Qatar’s maritime heritage, presenting it to the new generation as an integral part of the nation’s cultural identity. Today, the Qatar Boat Show Art Gallery at Old Doha Port revives that authentic nostalgia through the artworks of artists based in Qatar who draw inspiration from the spirit of the sea and the memories of their ancestors, keeping the port a living witness to a beautiful dialogue between past and present.
The Gallery transforms the marina’s shoreline into a space for creativity and reflection, featuring works by Yousif Ahmed, Salman Al-Malik, Maryam Al-Attiya, Ali Ghaddaf, Nawal Al Mannai, Hind Al Obaidli, Maryam Mohammed Abdulla, Lina Al Aali, Hayan Maani, Salem Mathkour, Najla Al-Khalifa and Shuaa Ali showcase that invites visitors to explore Qatar’s maritime legacy through art and support local talent inspired by the ocean that shaped the nation’s story.
Through OSHAR, Old Doha Port honors the bond between the sea and art, reminding us how the maritime spirit continues to shape Qatar’s culture today.
