Qatar National Library is celebrating the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™
by offering a variety of events and workshops in November for the community and visitors coming to
Qatar from around the world. The events and workshops, which cater to all age groups, will focus on
culture, heritage, sports and arts.
On 1 November, the Library invites visitors to walk the storybook trail at the Qur’anic Botanic Garden
and read one page at a time from the bilingual book, The Sidra Tree Rains, written by Basma Elkhatib
and illustrated by Reem Al Askari. The storybook trail will run until 31 December 2022.
On 3 November, to celebrate Qatar-MENASA 2022, the Library will host the MENASA Cultural Fair for
visitors to learn about the diverse cultures and heritage of MENASA countries through different
activities including folk tales; author talks; art activities and traditional crafting.
On 6 November, the Library, in collaboration with Studio 5/6, will host a series of technology workshops
for ten days to celebrate the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 TM . Children and young adults will learn about
and discover different topics and tools such as sports technology, 3D modeling, 3D scanning, mixed
reality, electronics and coding. The children’s workshops will run from 6 – 10 November and the young
adults’ workshops from 13 – 17 November 2022. To learn more about this event, please visit Studio

On 9 November, join the Library for the "Our Children Matter" series of lectures, which focus on topics
in the fields of childhood, education, and children's health. This lecture will provide advice to working
mothers on how to commit to exclusively breastfeeding when they return to work.
In addition, the Library is hosting a two-day workshop for a fun learning experience with the artist
Fatima Al Nuaimi, who will show participants how to recycle paper to create attractive bookmarks
inspired by the theme of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™.
Finally, the Library will offer guests another night of music from Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra, who will
present “BassiCelli” chamber music.
On 15 November, in celebration of the world’s biggest football tournament being held in the Middle
East and the Arab world, the Library invites visitors to “Goooal! How Football Kicked Off in Qatar”, an
exhibition about the growth and history of football in the country. The exhibition, which will run until 31
January 2023, will invite visitors from around the world to learn about the journey of football in Qatar,
its origins and how the game developed through the decades until the culmination of winning the right
to host this year's World Cup.
On 20 November, the Library, in collaboration with Little Thinking Minds, will host the children’s “Sports
Information Challenge.” The competition is open to Library members and involves reading some short
essays on the Library’s I Read Arabic site and answering the corresponding questions. The competition
will run until 20 December (the final date for submissions) and winners will be announced on January
2023.
The Library will continue to host a variety of fun and engaging events online throughout November. As
the Library will host several in-person events, participants are reminded to adhere to the latest COVID-
19 guidelines set by the Ministry of Public Health to ensure the well-being and safety of the community.
