A Qatari delegation representing Qatar National Tourism Council and Qatar Foundation, headed by Hassan Al Ibrahim, Assistant Secretary General of QNTC, met with officials in the Jordanian tourism and heritage sectors, including H.E Majd Shweikeh, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, HRH Princess Dana Firas, President of the Petra National Trust and UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, and Dr. Abdelrazzaq Arabiyat, Managing Director of the Jordan Tourism Board.        

 

During the meeting officials discussed ways of expanding cooperation between Qatar and Jordan in the areas of tourism, antiquities, ecotourism and architectural tourism. The two sides agreed to benefit from Jordanian expertise in managing heritage sites and nature reserves, and sharing knowledge and learnings in various areas of tourism, including the management of conferences and exhibitions.

 

The meeting was held on the sidelines of an event celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Petra National Trust, Jordan’s oldest non-governmental organization for the protection and preservation of national heritage.
