Shell.ai Futures Pitch Program Launch by QSTP and Shell Aims to Strengthen Qatar’s Role in Advancing AI and Energy Tech
Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP), member of Qatar Foundation and Qatar’s leading hub for technology development and entrepreneurship, leveraged its presence at Web Summit Qatar 2025 to drive impactful collaborations and expand its global innovation network.
As a Diamond Partner, QSTP engaged with local and global stakeholders at the summit to announce new partnerships and strategic collaborations aimed at fostering international tech development and strengthening Qatar’s position as a gateway for global startups.
At the forefront of these discussions, QSTP President Dr. Jack Lau joined Dan Jeavons, VP of Computational Science and Digital Innovation at Shell, on stage for an insightful discussion titled “Can AI Reshape the Future of Energy?” This high-profile conversation highlighted the transformative potential of AI in revolutionizing the energy sector, driving sustainability, and accelerating innovation. As part of this ongoing commitment, QSTP and Shell announced the launch of the Shell.ai Futures Pitch Qatar Edition, an initiative brought to Qatar to accelerate AI and energy tech startups, aligning with Qatar’s National Vision 2030 and reinforcing sustainability through cutting-edge innovations.
Through its Global Innovation Link (GIL) program, QSTP facilitated the participation of 20 startups from 10 different countries at Web Summit Qatar 2025, offering them an invaluable opportunity to connect with Qatar’s vibrant innovation ecosystem. These startups were able to engage with key local and international stakeholders, including investors, business leaders, and industry experts. By bringing them to the summit, QSTP not only helped these startups gain exposure but also provided them with the resources and networks necessary to establish a presence and scale their businesses in the MENA region, further cementing Qatar’s role as a gateway for global tech entrepreneurs seeking expansion opportunities.
Nearly 50 QSTP startups joined the event, presenting cutting-edge solutions with the potential for global expansion to a global audience.
A key highlight of the summit was a masterclass attended by nearly 100participants, delivered by Mohammad Zebian, QSTP’s Incubation Program Manager, on deep market analysis—an essential foundation for startups aiming to secure their first customers and scale successfully in competitive global markets.
Further amplifying its support for startups, QSTP partnered with Invest Qatar’s Startup Qatar initiative, to offer the participating startups a number of incentives including a fully subsidized co-working space at QSTP, logistical support with shipment of products and equipment, and various opportunities to exhibit their products at QSTP booths during industry events. These startups will also gain access to QSTP interns, aside from an extensive network of mentors for guidance in business strategy, scaling operations, and technical development, as well as to local and international markets through QSTP’s network of stakeholders and partners.
As an Ecosystem Partner for Qatar Development Bank’s Startup Showdown, QSTP extended vital support to competition winners by offering free co-working space, expert mentorship, and tailor-made post-competition sessions to fuel their growth.
