Tesla began rolling out Grok in Qatar. The AI companion is included in Tesla’s latest software version 2026.32.6, which has started rolling out to eligible vehicles - free of charge.
Grok is an advanced artificial intelligence built by SpaceX AI, designed to deliver accurate and insightful responses to questions across a wide range of topics - physics, math, biology, philosophy, history, and a lot more.
Integrated into Tesla vehicles, Grok can initiate navigation commands at the driver’s request - whether setting a destination, adjusting routes on the go, or discovering points of interest. Beyond navigation, Grok allows drivers to make phone calls, search for their favorite songs or podcasts with media search, and adjust the vehicle’s climate controls, all hands-free. It is also capable of referencing the vehicle owner’s manual, giving informed advice about best practices, ideal usage, maintenance tips, and interpreting dashboard alerts.
Available from Tesla vehicle’s steering wheel and touchscreen, the personality can be set to:
- The usual Grok modes: Assistant, Language Tutor, Therapist, Storyteller, Meditation, Doc, Conspiracy
- Kids specific modes: Kids Story Time, Kids Trivia Game
The assistant can also be personalized by selecting different personas:
- Ara – Upbeat Female
- Eve – Soothing Female
- Leo – British Male
- Rex – Calm Male
- Sal – Smooth Male
With the ability to customize the AI companion’s personality to suit their preferences, all passengers can transform travel time into engaging opportunities for learning, entertainment, or more efficient navigation to their destination. Available in an extensive range of languages, Grok delivers smooth, human-like conversational flow and natural phrasing.
Grok is now rolling out, available on eligible Model S, Model 3, Model X, Model Y and Cybertruck. To enable and use Grok, owners must have a Premium Connectivity subscription or a stable Wi-Fi connection. Conversations are anonymous to Tesla and not associated with the vehicle, ensuring owner privacy.
Tesla will continue to introduce deeper integration and new features going forward—via free over-the-air software updates—continuously improving its global fleet and enhancing the owner experience over time.
