A seasoned professional with over 20 years of experience in hospitality across Europe, Asia, Africa and Middle East, Vasileios will work on bringing Mondrian to new heights in Doha
Mondrian Doha, managed by leading international lifestyle hospitality group, sbe, is pleased to announce the appointment of Vasileios Oikonomopoulos as the new General Manager of the hotel.
Vasileios will oversee all the hotel’s operations and lead the execution of the long-term strategy focused on diversifying Mondrian’s offer and clientele, engage with the leadership team at Mondrian Doha to revive its partnership strategy, and reaffirm the property’s positioning as one of the leading lifestyle hotels in the Middle East and globally.

Prior to joining Mondrian Doha, Vasileios successfully launched the first Mondrian hotel in Asia – Mondrian Seoul Itaewon, named as the ‘Most Exciting Hotel Opening in Seoul’ and boasting 296 rooms and five restaurants and bars.
Previously, he spent seven years with Shagri-La Group, holding different positions: leading hotel operations in Malaysia and Sri-Lanka, regional Food & Beverage management across multiple properties in the Middle East region, and as a Corporate Director of Hotel Openings based in Hong Kong.
Vasileios acquired a hands-on understanding of the Middle East hospitality by working with leading Accor properties in Cairo and Dubai as Director of Food & Beverage. Within Accor group, he also held the position of Corporate Director in Bars & Beverage between 2007 and 2008.
Vasileios holds a master’s degree in Hospitality from Cornell University and several certifications attesting his project management and business skills. A Greek national, he is also a polyglot; in addition to his native Greek, he speaks English, French and Italian.
sbe and Accor announced the plan to open 10 new Mondrian properties by 2022. The company recently inaugurated Mondrian Seoul Itaewon and announced openings of Mondrian Shoreditch this summer, and Mondrian properties in Bordeaux and Cannes in 2022. sbe continues the strategic expansion of the brand’s international footprint in partnership with Accor.
