A. scholaris is a tender, upright, evergreen tree with whorled branches bearing whorls of leathery, glossy, narrowly ovate or oblong, dark green leaves, grey-green beneath, and dense cymes of fragrant, pale green or creamy-white flowers in autumn.

Cultivation

Outdoors in frost-free areas, grow in fertile, moist but well-drained soil full sun. Alternatively, grow under glass in loam-based compost in full light with shade from hot sun. Provide good ventilation.
