Full Event Details/Description:

What would the great classical masterpieces have heard had their authors been influenced by maqams, quarter tones and complex Arabic rhythms? Classical Arabesque provides a response to this question with a daring and creative musical quest.

This new concept was developed by Ghady Rahbani and Omar Rahbany by combining the variety and richness of Arabic music with the arrangement and splendor of a complete classical orchestra. The concert, which is accompanied by the world-renowned Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra, is a restatement of the dialogue between Eastern and Western traditions that is respectful and surprisingly novel.

A Unique Two-Act Experience

The concert, which is shown in two acts and has a duration of about 1 hour and 20 minutes, is a musical experience. Classical textures are familiar and the tonal colours of the Arab world are used to form an expressive landscape where cultures clash and harmonies develop.

The audiences should also anticipate overarching orchestral passages, elaborate rhythmic patterns and evocative melodies that bring out the common emotional language of music among civilisations.

Attendance Guidelines

The tickets should be bought online and no refunds or exchange of the tickets is allowed. The performance opens 30 minutes before the performance and children aged below six years are not allowed into the auditorium.

They will ask the guests to turn off mobile phones and avoid flash photography and videotaping. Seat allocation to latecomers will be done only in due breaks and during re-entry, they will be assigned seats close to exit. No food or drinks are allowed into the concert hall, other than water.

There will be a smart casual dress code; no overly casual style (i.e. shorts or beach clothes) will be allowed.

Spend some time in the evening when the musical heritage and orchestral magnificence merge in a dramatic cultural conversation in Katara Opera House.
