Two career advisors complete pivotal program enabling them to deliver major training course

Qatar Career Development Center (QCDC) is celebrating a milestone in its dedicated efforts to support the career aspirations of students in the Gulf state, with two of its career advisors – Effrosyni Parampota and Paige M. McDonough, both experts in career guidance and professional development at QCDC – having received the Facilitating Career Development (FCD) Instructor Certificate.

Ms. Parampota and Ms. McDonough were each awarded the credential after successfully completing the FCD Instructor Training program. Both have now been handed the opportunity to deliver the renowned FCD Training Program that leads to the Certified Career Services Provider (CCSP) credential through the highly esteemed National Career Development Association (NCDA) and the Global Career Development Facilitator (G-CDF) credential from the Center for Credentialing and Education (CCE).

The FCD Training Program provides individuals with relevant skills and knowledge to assist others in planning careers and obtaining meaningful work. Participants will receive in-depth training in key areas of career development in the form of up to 22+ instructional hours.

This is a major milestone for QCDC, a Qatar Foundation (QF) member, as it is the first time that the Center will be able to deliver training that leads to an internationally recognized accreditation. QCDC is preparing for the FCD Training Program to be offered to the public this October, and the training has been customized to the Qatari and GCC contexts.

In another first for QCDC, QF, and indeed the nation, both instructors are the first to be accredited in Qatar and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region. In itself, this is a major moment in terms of human capital development which can be offered locally without the need to use consultants from outside the Gulf state.

“I am delighted to have passed the FCD Instructor Training Program,” Ms. Parampota said. “It is an important milestone, not just for myself, of course, but for what will hopefully follow in being able to deliver the FCD Training here in Qatar with QCDC. That is a great privilege and honor for me.”

Ms. McDonough added: “This is an exciting opportunity. The potential future impact of delivering the FCD Training Program is compounded, as both the participants and the clients they serve will benefit from the FCD Training Program whether directly or indirectly. This is an exciting step for career development in Qatar and I look forward to delivering the FCD Training Program on behalf of QCDC.
